Just instituted a policy where they will not require masks (which is okay for vaccinated people ONLY) , verify people... have been vaccinated, require people to social distance, and/or check people's temperature at check in. Definitely do not feel safe going back. Very disappointing news.read more

I came to get my hair done after probably 6-7 years of not doing anything to it other than trim once every few years(I... know I know SO bad-just so busy!) Katherine (student) and Shari (instructor) knew exactly what to do to fix me up! Absolutely love my hair. The instructors knowledge mixed with the students talent to bring my hair to life made for the best outcome!read more

I've attempted to contact this location to schedule services. I called on April 7 and received a message to schedule on... the app or hold for a rep. I held and after a few minutes the call was disconnected. I went to the app. Had to create a new account and was only able to schedule a basic pedicure not a spa pedicure which I thought I was scheduling myself for. When I checked out I brought this to the self members attention and just received a sorry idk something is wrong with the app.read more

Had a facial here today and it wasn’t the best. The girl did a horrible rush job on my face. I paid for 90 minutes... thinking I was going to get some relax time but not quite how I wanted to spend my day off. I have gotten good service in the past with an exception of a couple. I asked for extractions as well however the student I got seemed like she was afraid to touch my face and refused to do my extractions. She rushed and slapped all the products on one after another without removing the previous one. She should not be working on anyone. She’s not ready and if she is grossed out by extractions she is in the wrong field. Waste of time and $. I think I’ll pass in the future!read more

I scheduled a root retouch thinking I would be coming in for a simple appointment, when in reality I found out my hair... needed a color melt. I talked to the student about my previous experiences with my professional stylist and how I've never achieved the color I was hoping for. The student and instructor clearly knew what needed to be done and what formulas to use. I felt very confident in their knowledge and abilities. and was very appreciative of how dedicated they were to fix my hair and do it the correct way!! I can honestly say that my hair turned out better than it ever has before, for a fraction of the price.read more

Ive had two of my first appointments this past week at this location. One for my lashes and one for a hair... cut/treatment. I will definitely be coming back! Madison who performed my lash fill was professional, personable, and informative when it came to the process of lash extensions and their care- and I loved the results! I had my hair cut by Lizette as well as a conditioning treatment, and I loved my experience. She was so bubbly and welcoming, as well as focused and precise at what she was doing. My hair turned out great, and she did a great job educating me on home care of how to reach my personal hair goals. The instructor presence was a great experience to watch, as you can tell they are passionate about their craft, teaching, and the client's needs. They did a great job of coaching the student as needed, giving constructive feedback, as well as giving praise that the student deserved for a job well done. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting quality service while allowing students to learn from their service.read more

My heart goes out to the students at this school. I had recieved facials, lashes, and waxing services here by a number... of the esthetics students, and i have yet to encounter 1 student who’s happy with the education that they’re receiving. They teach them the basics of the industry and aveda products. The sanitation of the guest area/changing suite here also worries me, especially during a pandemic. This school is huge in milwaukee and brings in so much money, yet updates to the curriculum are rare, even with the industry growth, and not to mention the tip money we leave for these students dont even go to them!I had to learn about this from a student, so if management isnt communicated to clients, that just reflects on the business as well! The “education fund” is a shady way for the school to pocket that cash for themselves. The work these students put in to not even be able to receive a pay, let alone their tip money that they worked for is disgusting to me. From my knowledge, students dont even get free parking.. maybe divert that education fund to a parking area for students, or even a crazier idea, apply that education fund to their education/tuition! I will continue to receive services at this school, the 1 reason being is for those driven students that this school does not deserve, and clearly do not appreciate.Remember to leave/sneak your service providers a gift card, thank you card, cash, or anything to show your appreciation towards them!read more

I was anxious to get my hair cut for the first time in a while but my anxiety was relieved the moment I walked in. The... establishment was clean and beautiful and everyone was wearing masks properly. I received a temperature check and a warm towel smelling of lavender while I waited a whole 30 seconds for my student. Niyesha (I probably didn't spell her name correctly- sorry!) was knowledgeable about curly hair and asked me my preferences on how I wanted my hair to look. Her instructor was attentive but not pushy- just making sure the student's technique and cut was correct and that I was happy. Niyesha washed, cut, and styled my hair curly so I could see what my hair would look like and showed me how she used the diffuser to bring out my natural curls. Felt like a pro salon cut but at half of the price. I can't wait to come back!Note: You can leave some money for the student's styling school fund which means they pay less when it comes time to pay off school. From my understanding it's what the school does instead of a typical tip.read more

I come here mostly for waxing. I have eyebrows like Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street so I need help and the students... have done a great job and the price helps. They are doing an excellent job at keeping people safe during covid with the phone check ins. Thank you to the front desk for helping me when I got confused with the check outs! I did get a very nice facial as a Valentines Day gift to myself and about a year ago i got a great massage that helped me immensely with the neck and arm pain I sometimes struggle with - I felt great for a long time. I did get my hair cut and colored for a couple of years before a friend gave me a recommendation somewhere else. The students that did my hair for the most part were good with one exception and I didn’t ask for her the next time. People who complain need to keep in mind that they are students. They need the feedback and if they are not receptive to your feedback ask for someone else. I know going into any appointment that this may not be like a super spa appointment so I think don’t be a “Karen” if you expect perfection. The students are learning and training. They are doing us a favor for us as well by offering services for a great price so keep that in mind. I have been coming to the school off and on for about 12 years and plan to keep coming back. Thank you for the services I have gotten!!!!read more

Booked a surprise 2 hand abaghanda for a friend when booking the service said it would be 120 minutes...so I dropped... them off wishing them well on thier two hour relaxation journey they called me an hour later saying they were ready to be picked up and that the service lasted about 50 minutes I have yet to receive a call back from staff I booked this service for other people as gifts when I tell them it's a two hour service and it's less than an hour it makes the institution and me look ridiculous...and sound like I don't know what I'm talking about. If you advertise a service as 120 minutes it should be at least that.... seriously waste of our day to get together and drive down there for a 50 minute serviceread more

I've gotten my hair cut and colored here many times. Every time it has been a good experience. The students are careful... and ask a lot of questions about what you want, and the instructors are helpful with making sure the students know just what to do. The only con is that it typically takes a lot more time, but that's because the students are still learning and have to get things approved by the instructors, so make sure you budget in enough time in your day. Overall a great value and a great experience.read more

Please read all the 1 star reviews and cross check the names of the 5 star reviewers as most are either IBW employees,... friends or family members!I withdrew from the school because it is just a joke- when you bring things to managements attention, its brushed off!Instructor turnover is CRAZY- ask yourself why!? Or just ask ANYONE that has attended the school in the last 3-5 years!DO YOUR RESEARCH AND SHADOW BEFORE YOU ENROLL!!!! BEWARE!read more

This is the third time I came in, and unlike the first 2 times, I am extremely disappointed. I was charged thrice as... more for the exact same service I got the last 2 times, on the exact same chunk of hair, during the same week. The team leader Jacob was especially rude and condescending even when I was trying to be courteous and smiling to explain my issue- I came in for just 1 foil ( a single streak) of color last week, for which they charged me $10 ($5 for lift off and $5 for color). They didn't charge me for the toner. I came in today to do the exact same procedure on the same foil of hair because the lift off wasn't great last time, and they charged me $30. I politely asked them to reconsider and explain why, and I was taken aback by Jacob's behavior as he said he did not have time to stand there disputing with a customer, and he waived off $5 because it was not worth his time. When I asked for the instructors and other team leaders who were present the last time and could explain why there was a difference in prices arbitrarily, he said they've gone home, and said that I am welcome to hang around until the end of the day if I wanted to waste my time. Very confused about how they treat customers. Definitely left a sour taste to the good impression I had of their service initially. I had planned on getting other services like facials and massages but I won't be anymore since things got awkward with the service desk. Sorry that you lost a customer.Let me add that I did not get the color I wanted anyway even after 2 lift offs, but that wasn't their fault as I have dark hair. It's the passive aggressive behavior that was unimpressive. The students were more polite than the staff. The front desk should really have more polite and courteous people. Sorry that I wouldn't be able to recommend the institute to my friends and colleagues.FOLLOWING COMMENTS AFTER THE OWNER'S RESPONSE:Sir/ Madam,I tried calling your Institute multiple times and was always told that I would receive a call back, or that Kevin would address my issue. I had to explain my situation in detail every time- seems like no one was keeping a record or note of my complaint, and I had to start from scratch again. I never got to speak to Kevin. They gave me another number, of Aveda's 'Corporate' office, and I explained my complaint all over again, but nothing was ever done about it and I still have no explanation as to why I was overcharged, or if anyone addressed Jacob's behaviour. I have left the country since and am not available on phone call. Please feel free to get in touch via email if it's still important for your Institute to resolve this matter.read more

I always have a lovely time when I'm here. I used to getting pretty basic and bland service at other places, so when I... get the shampoo and hot towel treatment here I feel like a king. I can tell they've got a talented group of students here - especially Sarah, she's does a fantastic job. Cuts my hair perfectly every time!read more

Results vary depending on the student. I've had an excellent facial from a student who, it turned out, was one day from... graduation. Today, I had a terrible facial from a student who should not have been allowed to work on clients: REPEATEDLY dropping cold lotions on my skin without warming them in her hands first, not putting a towel on my hair until 10 minutes into the process, being way too gentle -- she seemed more interested in moving the lotion around rather than sloughing off dead skin and increasing circulation. She just didn't get it. What is the school teaching them?read more

I just wanna say i felt very ready and prepared for my future as a massage therapist, I’m only a month in and i have... had repeats, mentions from other spas that share a guest i helped, and so many more positive reviews, it really makes me feel like I’m in the right place and have had the best helping hands! A huge thank you to our instructors is definitely deserving. The program as a whole could have been a better experience, and maybe a little less focus on the product sales. But i definitely miss my instructors and can only say positive things about them!read more
