The California College of Ayurveda is dedicated to transforming human consciousness into a state of health, harmony and love by providing the highest quality education, health care, and research in the field of Ayurveda, and striving to express the principles of harmony in every action we take.
In the winter of 1994, Dr. Marc Halpern had a vision of building a profession for Ayurveda in the United States. This vision came after a decade of study in the health sciences including Ayurveda. In his vision, he saw a school educating Ayurvedic Doctors and an infrastructure for the profession that includes a National and State Association. After speaking with his teachers (Dr. David Frawely and Dr. Subhash Ranade’) Dr. Halpern began to embark on that journey.
In the fall of 1995, the first classes began. The school humbly and literally began in his garage – which he remodeled into a classroom. After a year, he had outgrown his home and rented facilities in Grass Valley. In 2010, we moved into our current 15,000 square foot campus.
Dr. Halpern and his graduates have since formed the National and State association. Dr. Marc Halpern is one of the few individuals whose work in the field of Ayurveda has been honored with awards in both the United States and India.
The California College of Ayurveda (CCA) was the first school to gain government approval and provide formal education in the field of Ayurvedic Medicine outside of India. CCA has also collaborated with researchers from UC Davis to conduct and publish original research studies.
