I am an Ayurveda and Jyotisha Teacher and Practitioner. I was born in India and my first love were the Arts: painting, dancing, playing the flute and theater. Then in 1975, I was swept off my feet by this American “Best Man” at a wedding, and one month later I was in America, having had no plans to ever leave my beautiful family and my beloved country. But destiny calls…
Here in the US, I learned about growing and eating organic food, about country home living. I learned about Natural forms of healing, aura reading, (Yes! I was in California!) and most important had home births for my two sons that today are lovely men I am so proud of! I continued my love of theater until one day I slipped and fell off a ladder on the stage during a play I was directing. Although it was a hairline fracture that disabled me for two months it opened and continues to open the doors to transformation of my body, mind and soul. I learned the wonders of Jin Shin Jyutsu (A Japanese form of Acupressure), and then Ayurveda from 1996. I met a wonderful teacher: Hart De Fouw about a month after I had dreamed about learning Jyotisha and the planets became alive. That was in 2001. The way the Universe reflects back to us what is within and how we interface with the Universe for the nourishment of our mind, body and soul is learning lessons of life that are never ending!
Graduating from The California College of Ayurveda in 1998, I decided to be one of the founding members of The California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine (CAAM). I was truly humbled to hold the post of President for 5 years and proud to produce the First Ayurveda International Symposium in the US at UC Berkeley. It was exciting to meet for the first time, Practitioners from all over the country, Teachers, the Vendors, Students from all over the US, and visiting teachers from India! It was inspiring to see joint ventures spring up from the meeting of Ayurvedic Practitioners, Vendors and Educational Institutions! Since then we have seen Ayurvedic Clinics, Spas, Beauty Treatments, Integrative Medical Clinics, Herbal Products and Diet, Nutritional Practices and Pancha Karma de-tox and rejuvenative Centers, plus Ayurveda being introduced into Universities!! I have continued enhancing my knowledge in Ayurveda through Kerala Ayurveda Academy. I am also on their Faculty since 2002.
Today I know my calling is to teach. I love my students, I love learning. I continuously do both in Jyotisha (Vedic Astrology) and Ayurveda.
I have also been blessed to go into deeper studies of Jyotisha when I met my current teacher Pt. Sanjay Rath in 2017. Its been mind blowing! These subjects are so profound that one lifetime is not enough : ) I love touring around teaching both Ayurveda and Jyotisha and doing both phone and in person consultations. In 2018, I was invited to return to the California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine (CAAM) and pick up that mantle again as President. As long as there is a need for holistic health and global ecology, Ayurveda and Jyotisha are the Mother Sciences offering much support to individuals and society at large.
I am thankful for this opportunity in my life, serving currently on the Faculty of Kerala Ayurveda Academy, I continue as a free-lance teacher teaching and counseling Ayurveda and Jyotisha in various Schools across the country, offering classes, workshops, webinars, podcasts and 1 on 1 classes and consultations. With my husband I also enjoyed an Organic Blueberry Farm, but that is another story! I hope our paths cross soon : )
