I started my journey in the medical / health world as a Clinical Medical Assistant working in private practice with an Osteopathic Physician. Working with this doctor, I soon realized there were easier, less invasive ways of dealing with illness. This observation soon inspired to become a health and fitness professional. I became certified first as a Group Fitness Instructor, followed by a Medical Exercise Specialist, and Personal Trainer. I worked in group settings and private residences helping people gain greater awareness of their own path to health and wellness.
Fast forward to my path to yoga, I noticed there was more to health than the physical body. There were breath mechanics, our thoughts, and how they both played a role in our well-being, along with mindfulness and intention. This lead me to become certified as a Yoga Teacher, where I began a deeper inquiry about my own health and the people I was currently working with. I opened a boutique style yoga studio in Annapolis MD called Shakti Studio that was home for yoga classes, workshops, and educational programs.
As yoga became more integrated into my own work and lifestyle, I became increasingly aware of a system called Ayurveda. This ancient teaching helps us to understand how the body stays in balance or goes out of balance. This understanding took me to become certified as an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist and Board Certified Ayurveda Health Counselor. These trainings, along with my most recent certification, Yoga Therapist, has given me the tools to support my own life and to support others on their path to vibrant health.
Then came my introduction to Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. I soon experienced how profound these aromatic plant compounds were for health and healing. I had been dealing with IBS for years and had immediate relief when I applied the oils. The more I learned, the more I saw how valuable this could be for others as well. Once again, another tool was offered, to help myself, my family, clients, and friends. I now work as an educator and advocate with the leading essential oil wellness company in the world, doTERRA. I believe in their products and how they help people use safe natural alternatives, and I believe in doTERRA’s mission and the good work they are doing in the world. Their new company mission ~ Pursue what’s Pure.
I am inspired and grateful for the opportunity to share this accumulated knowledge and teaching, so you too may LIVE in the world with greater joy and ease.
