I was born to Colombian parents in the United States and always grew up exposed to both cultures. I always travel frequently between the two countries, but growing up I decided to live in Colombia.
Throughout my life I have faced health problems, many related to a congenital condition called Stickler Syndrome. Since I was a child I have had several surgeries and hospital stays for retinal detachments. My doctors always advised me to take care of my joints and eyes, which were affected by the syndrome. At age 18, I had spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis and spent several years afterward learning how to manage pain.
